Ingredients
-
1 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. lard
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. boiling water
1 beaten egg
3 1/2 c. plain flour
Preparation
-
Mix sugar, lard, salt and boiling water. When mixture is lukewarm, fold in egg and yeast mixture. Add flour or just enough to make kneadable dough. Let rise 1 1/2 hours. Punch down and roll out. Cut and place on cookie sheet. Let rise another hour and a half. Cook until brown at 400\u00b0.
Doughnuts are made just like the rolls, except they are fried in deep fat and dipped in mixture of powdered sugar, milk and vanilla.
