Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. self-rising flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    3 1/2 oz. coconut
    5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1/2 c. Crisco
    5 egg yolks
Preparation
    Cream butter and shortening well.
    Add sugar.
    Beat.
    Add egg yolks and beat, one at a time.
    Beat well.
    Add flour, vanilla and buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour.
    Add coconut and nuts.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    Makes 3 layers.
