Ingredients

1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 Tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 lb. coarsely chipped sweet baking chocolate, slivered by hand and some in small chunks
1 c. broken pecans
Preparation

Thoroughly cream shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar. Add eggs, hot water and vanilla.
Beat well and add sifted together:
cake flour, salt and soda.
Add chocolate and pecans. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
Bake in slow 300\u00b0 oven 25 to 30 minutes.
