Southern Fried Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    3 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. milk
    cooked, dried apples, apricots, etc.
Preparation
    Cook dried fruit.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Crumble shortening into mixture.
    Add milk gradually, making a dry dough. Roll out 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut into rounds the size of a saucer. Place tablespoon of cooked fruit on half of round.
    Fold over other half.
    Moisten edges with cold water and press edges together. Prick top; brown in shallow hot oil.
    Turn and brown other side. Drain on paper towel.
