Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine
1 egg, separated
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg yolk; mix thoroughly.
Add flour and cinnamon.
Blend lightly but thoroughly.
Spread even layer over surface of a 10 x 15-inch cookie sheet.
Work with palms of hand to smooth surface.
Beat egg white slightly; spread on top to completely cover.
Sprinkle pecans over all, pressing into dough.
Bake at 275\u00b0 over 1 hour.
Cut while hot into 1 1/2-inch squares.
Break apart.
Yields 6 dozen.
