Hamburg - Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 lg. onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    3 carrots, chopped
    1/2 c. diced green beans
    2 lg. potatoes, diced
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 - 16 oz. can tomatoes
    5 c. boiling water
    2 beef boullion cubes
Preparation
    Brown meat in large kettle, stirring to break it up.
    Add onion and garlic, cooking until yellowed.
    Add remaining vegetables and cook, stirring often for 3 minutes.
    If there is much fat in the kettle remove all but 1 Tbsp.
    Add boiling water, salt, pepper and 2 beef boullion cubes.
    Cover and let simmer 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
    During last 10 minutes of cooking time add the canned tomatoes.
