Red Cabbage And Potatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head red cabbage
    1 large onion
    1 bay leaf
    5 cloves (just cloves)
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    1/4 c. water
    3 to 4 tart apples
    salt
    1 tsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. water
    shortening (as much as needed)
Preparation
    Chop cabbage.
    Melt fat and cook finely chopped onion until light brown, then add cabbage and heat through.
    Add bay leaf and cloves, salt, vinegar, water and cut up apples.
    Steam until done. Add sugar to taste and cornstarch to thicken.
