Old Fashioned Dark Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. brown sugar, packed
    3 c. flour
    6 large eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. mace
    1/2 tsp. cloves, ground
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. hot coffee
    1/2 c. molasses
    1/2 c. tart jelly (prefer apple/grape)
    1 lb. raisins (dark or white)
    1/2 lb. nuts
    1 small container red candied cherries
    1 small container green candied cherries
    1 large container mixed candied fruit
    grated rind and juice of 1 orange and 1 lemon
Preparation
    Line loaf pans with wax paper and grease with shortening. Depending on size, it takes 2 to 4 loaf pans.
    Cream together shortening and brown sugar.
    Blend in flour, eggs, salt and baking powder.
    Add cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, cloves, soda, hot coffee, molasses and jelly.
    Blend in raisins, nuts, cherries, mixed candied fruit and rind and juice of one orange and 1 lemon.
    Pour into loaf pans and bake at 300\u00b0 (slow oven) for about 2 1/2 hours. Take out of pans at once and remove wax paper.
