Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers
    2 green peppers
    10 medium or 20 small onions
    5 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Place container over low heat and keep turning pickles over until mixture reaches the scalding point.
    Do not boil.
    Place in jars while hot (first heating the jars).
    Let stand 48 hours before eating.
    Yield:
    8 pints.
