Athenaeum Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk, scalded
    1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
    2 cakes yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    melted butter
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    5 c. flour
Preparation
    Add shortening to scalded milk.
    Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to milk mixture.
    Add eggs, salt, flour and 1/2 cup sugar to yeast mixture.
    Mix well.
    Allow to rise until double in bulk, about 2 hours.
    Shape into cloverleaf or desired shape, using melted butter in forming rolls.
    Let rise until double in bulk about 45 minutes to an hour.
    Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 400\u00b0.
