Chocolate Chip Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. hot water
    1 c. dates
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. white sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips
Preparation
    Combine dates and soda in hot water; let stand.
    Cream together white sugar and shortening.
    Mix in eggs, cocoa, flour, salt and vanilla.
    Add date mixture and half bag of chocolate chips.
    Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
    Top with remaining half bag of chocolate chips.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
