Ingredients

3/4 c. vegetable shortening
1/4 c. water
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. granulated sugar
3 c. oatmeal
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. walnuts
1/2 c. chocolate chips
Preparation

Beat shortening, sugar, water, vanilla and egg.
Sift dry ingredients.
Mix well.
Nuts and chips are optional.
Bakes at 375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
