Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 rounded Tbsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 oz. red food coloring
Preparation
    Mix vinegar and soda in small cup and let sit.
    Cream the sugar, shortening and eggs.
    Make a paste of cocoa and small amount of red coloring.
    Add to the creamed mixture, then add rest of coloring.
    Add buttermilk, salt and flour alternately.
    Add vanilla, vinegar and soda. Stir well, then pour into two 8 or 9-inch layers (optional).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Cool and split layers lengthwise making 4 thin layers.
