Fresh Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. finely chopped, pared apples
    1 c. walnuts
    1 Tbsp. flour
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
    Cream together sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
    Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add vanilla.
    Add dry ingredients, beating well after each addition. Stir in apples.
    Combine walnuts and 1 tablespoon flour.
    Stir into batter.
    Pour into greased and floured 9-inch square baking pan.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven 50 minutes or until cake tests done.
    Cool in pan on rack.
    Makes 9 servings.
