Baked Lima Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lima beans
    salt
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    bacon
Preparation
    Sort beans.
    Put in kettle. Cover with water and soak overnight.
    Drain.
    Put fresh water with baking soda in over beans.
    Cook 15 minutes. Drain again. Add fresh water and salt to taste. Cook until beans start to get tender.
    Drain and reserve juice.
    Put beans in 3-quart baking dish.
    Add the brown sugar and mix well. Add chunks of bacon and mix. Add some bean juice and stir.
    (Save rest of juice in case beans get too dry before they are done.)
    Top with strips of bacon. Do not cover.
    Bake 2 hours in a 425\u00b0 oven or until beans get brown and juice cooks off. Makes 6.
