Ingredients

1/2 lb. unsalted butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 lb. light brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 lb. pecan pieces
1 3/4 lb. semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips
Preparation

Cream butter, salt, vanilla and sugars together.
Dissolve baking soda in small amount of hot water and add to butter and sugar mixture.
Add eggs and mix; add flour and mix well.
Fold in pecans, then chocolate.
Don't overmix chocolate.
