Christmas Pudding Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. light cream
    1 heaping Tbsp. butter
    1 lb. dates, cut to very small bits
    1 lb. figs, cut to very small bits
    1 lb. raisins, cut to very small bits
    1 lb. coconut
    1 to 2 c. nuts, cut to very small bits
Preparation
    Cook sugar, cream and butter to soft ball stage.
    Beat until creamy.
    Beat in fruit and nuts.
    If coconut is coarse, grind it. When well mixed, roll as for meat loaf.
    Wrap in dampened cloth, then in waxed paper and store to ripen.
    Allow at least 2 weeks before using.
    Slice into squares or grease hands and roll into balls.
    Roll in nuts or coconut.
