Gingerbread Boys - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. molasses
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    5 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 to 3 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Stir in egg, molasses and vinegar; beat well.
    Sift together dry ingredients, then stir into molasses mixture.
    Chill 3 hours.
    On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness.
    Cut with gingerbread cutter. Place 1 inch apart.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 5 to 6 minutes.
    While still warm, press in raisins or candy pieces (M&M's, etc.) or cool and decorate with icing.
    Makes approximately 5 dozen.
