Never Fail Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. cold water
    1/2 c. boiling water
    3 to 4 egg whites
    6 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Blend cornstarch and cold water in saucepan.
    Add boiling water; cook, stirring, until clear.
    Let stand until completely cool; cover so a scum will not form.
    Beat egg whites until foamy; gradually add sugar.
    Beat until stiff, but not dry.
    Add vanilla. Gradually beat in cornstarch mixture on slow speed; turn back on high and beat well.
    Spread over cooled filling.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes, or pleasingly browned.
