Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    5 eggs, separated
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. coconut flakes
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 stick oleo
    1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Beat egg whites until stiff; set aside.
    Cream oleo, sugar, shortening and vanilla.
    Add yolks.
    Mix soda with buttermilk. Add alternately with dry ingredients.
    Do not overmix.
    Add pecans and coconut to batter and fold in egg whites.
    Bake in 3 x 9-inch greased and floured pans.
    Bake for 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
