Peanut Blossoms - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. peanut butter
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. white sugar
    2 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 pkg. chocolate candy kisses (I use Hershey miniature kisses)
Preparation
    Cream shortening and peanut butter; add sugar and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla, beat until fluffy.
    Sift flour, measure; add salt, soda and baking powder; sift again.
    Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.
    Chill in refrigerator.
    (I don't always do this.)
    Shape dough into balls 1 inch in diameter. (I use the small Pampered Chef scoop.)
    Place 2-3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 minutes.\tRemove and press a chocolate kiss in center of each cookie.
    Return to oven and bake for 4 minutes more.
    Makes 7 dozen.
