Sausage And Rice Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. pork sausage
    3/4 c. uncooked rice
    2 c. canned tomatoes
    3/4 c. finely chopped onion
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. chili powder
    2 c. hot water
    1/2 c. grated sharp cheese
Preparation
    Break sausage into pieces in a cold skillet.
    Fry slowly for 12 to 15 minutes, until evenly brown, pouring off fat as it accumulates.
    Add rice to fat in skillet.
    Cook and stir over low heat until rice is lightly browned.
    Stir in tomatoes, onion, salt, chili powder, hot water and sausage.
    Pour into a baking dish and cook, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
