Macaroon Chewies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 egg whites
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. sweetened shredded coconut
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Lightly grease cookie sheets.
    Beat together egg whites and salt until stiff.
    Gradually beat in sugar until stiff shiny peaks.
    Add coconut and vanilla.
    Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    Do not overcook.
    Cool on cookie sheets for a few minutes, then cool completely on wire racks.
    Store tightly in a covered dish.
