Hard Candies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    food coloring
    2/3 c. light corn syrup
    2 tsp. flavoring extract or 1/2 tsp. flavoring oil
Preparation
    Cook sugar, corn syrup and water to medium crack stage (295\u00b0). Stir in flavoring extract or oil, salt and coloring.
    Quickly pour onto a sheet of aluminum foil.
    When cooled, crack into pieces with knife handle.
    Store in tightly covered container. Yields 1 pound.
