Vegetable Beef Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. tomato juice
    1/2 head cabbage, chopped
    6 pods okra, sliced
    1 c. green beans
    1 c. corn
    1 c. purple hull peas
    1 c. English peas
    2 c. chopped tomatoes
    2 c. potatoes
    1 c. carrots
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 lb. ground beef or stew meat, browned and drained
    salt and pepper
    chopped fresh or dried basil
    celery, chopped, and bell peppers (if desired)
Preparation
    Simmer vegetables in 2 cups of water and tomato juice until tender.
    Add beef and simmer 5 more minutes.
    Salt and pepper to taste.
    Serve with corn bread on a cold day.
