Cheesy Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 c. diced potatoes
    1/2 c. mild white onion or 1 1/2 tsp. onion flakes
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. salt
    2 c. milk
    1 can Cheddar cheese soup
    4 c. California mix vegetables (optional)
Preparation
    Brown the butter in the soup kettle (don't burn).
    Add the potatoes, covering with enough water to go over them 1 inch.
    Add salt.
    Bring to boil and continue until potatoes are soft.
    Add milk and Cheddar cheese soup.
    Stir often, making sure this doesn't boil hard.
