Grandmother'S Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. white syrup
    1 c. brown sugar
    3 c. white sugar
    3 Tbsp. water
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    4 Tbsp. butter
    4 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
Peel grapefruit and cut in small strips.
Cook them three times in water, bringing it to a boil each time.
(This helps take the bitterness out of the peel.)
Make syrup by using equal parts of water and sugar (approximately 1 cup of sugar to 2 grapefruit). Add grapefruit and cook until transparent.
    Put in colander to drain.
    Roll in granulated sugar.
Let dry about 24 to 48 hours. To test: Bend peels on plate.
It remains bent, it is done.
