Black-Eyed Peas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried black-eyed peas
    1/4 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    3 ham hocks or ham bone scraps
    1 large onion, chopped
    dash of pepper
Preparation
    Soak peas in cold water overnight or for several hours. Boil ham bone for about one hour. Add peas, onion, sugar, salt and pepper; cook 2 hours more or until peas are done. Add more water as needed. Also good using fresh peas and good without the onion.
