Ingredients

2 sticks margarine
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 lb. chopped dates
2 c. frozen coconut
8 oz. orange slice candy, chopped
2 c. nuts
Preparation

Cream margarine and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
Add 1 cup buttermilk.
Beat well.
Add soda to remaining 1/2 cup buttermilk.
Add to batter.
Combine dry ingredients; add them.
Mix orange slice candy, dates and nuts with 1/2 cup flour.
Add to mixture; beat well.
Line tube pan with well-greased brown paper.
Bake at 275\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours.
