Vidalia Onion Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large Vidalia onions
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. vermouth
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 to 1 c. shredded Swiss, Gruyere or Jarlsberg cheese
    1/4 c. fine dry bread crumbs
    1 tsp. paprika
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Cut onions into 3/4-inch slices.
    In a 12-inch skillet, cook onions in butter or margarine until tender. Sprinkle with salt, sugar and pepper.
    Add vermouth and Worcestershire sauce.
    Cook 3 minutes.
    Transfer onion mixture to a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
    Sprinkle with cheese.
    Combine bread crumbs, paprika and melted butter.
    Sprinkle over cheese. Bake for 20 minutes.
    Serves 6.
