Hard Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. white Karo syrup
    1 c. hot water
    1/2 tsp. flavoring
    1 tsp. coloring
Preparation
    Butter a metal 9 x 13-inch pan and place in freezer.
    Dissolve sugar, Karo and water on stove top until reaches boil.
    Cut back to medium heat and boil until \"hard crack\" on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add flavoring and coloring.
    Mix well.
    Pour boiling mixture into pan from freezer.
    Candy will begin to harden as it cools.
