Custard Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 egg yolks
    2 c. heavy cream
    3 Tbsp. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Place lightly beaten egg yolks and sugar in the top of a double boiler over hot (not boiling) water.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and creamy.
    Add butter.
    Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
    Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
    To serve, warm in double boiler over simmering water.
    Yields 1 pint of sauce.
