4 onions
1/4 c. butter
2 cans beef broth, hot beef stock or consomme
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
4 slices French bread, toasted
4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
Preparation

Thinly slice onions.
Melt butter in a large saucepan.
Cook onions until soft and transparent, stirring often.
Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer 20 minutes.
