Beet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. beets
    4 c. vinegar
    4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cut beet tops off 3-inches from beets.
    Cook until tender; cool and remove skins.
    Half or quarter beets if they are large. Heat sugar, cloves and salt.
    Add beets; let boil 10 minutes. Pack in jars; cover with the hot syrup and seal.
