Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 c. milk
    2 eggs
    1/4 c. softened shortening
Preparation
    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together; stir in cornmeal.
    Add milk, eggs and shortening.
    Beat with rotary or electric beater for 1 minute or just until smooth.
    Pour into 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Yields 8 to 10 servings.
