Ingredients

2 Tbsp. oil or water
2 to 3 large onions, sliced
1/4 c. flour
4 c. water
1/4 c. soy sauce
4 slices toasted French bread or croutons
Preparation

Heat oil or water in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add onions and cook for 2 minutes.
Add flour and stir until the onions are well coated.
Add water and soy sauce.
Stir well. Bring soup to a boil; then simmer over low heat until the onions are tender.
Add more water if soup becomes too thick.
