Jug Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    pickling salt
    1 gal. cucumbers, sliced and put in gallon jar
    alum water (2 Tbsp. alum to 1/2 gal. water)
    1 qt. white vinegar
    8 c. sugar
    1/2 box pickling spice (tie spice in a small white cloth)
Preparation
    Boil 1/2 gallon water and 1 cup pickling salt.\tPour over cucumbers in jug.
    Pack cucumbers down well in jug.
    Let set for 7 days.
