Southern Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. yellow corn meal
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    2 eggs, separated
    1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Add milk to egg yolks, then add corn meal mixture.
    Add shortening; mix again.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Pour into greased pan and bake at 450\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
