Crisscross Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced medium cucumbers
    6 medium onions, sliced
    3 to 5 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. salt (not iodized)
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. cider vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers and onions; add garlic cloves.
    Mix salt and cover with ice.
    Let stand 3 hours and then drain.
    Combine remaining ingredients and boil for 5 minutes.
    Add the cucumbers, garlic cloves and salt after you drain.
    Boil for 3 minutes.
    Pat into jars and process in water bath for 5 minutes.
    (Pickles and juices are great for most salads also.)
