Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
    1/2 c. thinly sliced green onions (include some tops)
    1 c. thinly sliced celery
    1 small can sliced water chestnuts
    sliced fresh mushrooms (to cover)
    sliced ripe olives
    10 oz. pkg. frozen green peas, rinsed in cold water
    1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    pinch of garlic powder
Preparation
    Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours. Before serving, sprinkle with chopped hard-boiled egg and crisp bacon bits and decorate with sliced cherry tomatoes.
    For a main dish, you may add cooked chicken or ham.
