Hoppin' John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 cans (15 oz. ea.) field peas
    1 jar (16 oz.) Salsa
    1 envelope beefy onion soup mix
    1 lb. smoked sausage, cut into bite size pieces
    hot cooked rice
Preparation
    In a large soup kettle or dutch oven, combine first four ingredients.
    Allow to simmer for about 30 minutes.
    Serve over cooked rice.
