Toffee Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter (no substitute)
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. flour
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. quick oats
    6 oz. pkg. milk chocolate bits
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add vanilla and egg and beat well. Stir in flour and oats; blend.
    Spread in 7 x 11-inch pan.
    Bake for 20 minutes or until brown at 350\u00b0.
    Spread chocolate bits over; when melted, spread with a spatula.
    Sprinkle with pecans.
