French Market Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. dry black beans
    1/4 c. dry garbanzo beans
    1/4 c. dry pinto beans
    1/4 c. dry split peas
    1/4 c. dry black-eyed peas
    1/4 c. dry navy beans
    1/4 c. dry red beans
    1/4 c. dry baby lima beans
    1/4 c. barley lentils
    1 qt. tomatoes
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 large bell pepper
    1 or 2 bay leaves
    1/2 large chicken
    ham hock
    2 medium onions
    6 stalks celery
    1/2 lb. smoked sausage
Preparation
    Wash beans; place in bowl.
    Cover with water and soak overnight.
    Next day, drain off water.
    Add 3 quart of fresh water, ham hock and bay leaves.
    Simmer, covered for 3 hours.
    Add other ingredients except sausage and chicken.
    Simmer, uncovered, for 1 1/2 hours.
    Add chicken and sausage; simmer until chicken is done. Remove bones.
    Serve piping hot.
