Coconut Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar, mix with sugar
    1/2 c. water
    4 eggs, separated
    1 c. powdered sugar
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. vanilla or 1/2 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. coconut flavoring
Preparation
    Boil first 3 ingredients fairly rapid until firm ball forms in cold water.
    Put egg whites in large bowl to beat.
    Don't turn on stove until eggs are ready to beat.
    Start cooking the first 3 ingredients and beat egg whites at same time.
    When firm ball forms in cold water, pour over egg whites.
    Add powdered sugar; beat real good.
    Add salt, vanilla flavoring, or vanilla and coconut flavoring.
