St. James Coffee Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sifted flour
2 c. white sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 c. raisins
1 c. walnuts
Preparation

Sift together all dry ingredients except soda.
Cut in shortening.
Set aside 1/2 cup crumbs for topping.
Dissolve soda in the buttermilk and add to dry ingredients, mixing well.
Fold in raisins and nuts.
Pour into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish and sprinkle the 1/2 cup crumbs on top.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 45 minutes.
Serves 16.
