English Tea Biscuits - cooking recipe

1 c. sugar
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. shortening (not butter or margarine)
1 c. raisins
1 egg, beat and add enough milk to make 1 c.
Preparation

Sift sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together. Add remaining ingredients to flour mixture and mix until you can form a ball around the bowl.
Roll out on smooth surface 1/2 inch thick.
Cut with cookie cutter.
Sprinkle on sugar.
Bake at 400\u00b0 until light brown.
