Johnny Bakes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

8 oz. or 2 c. flour (225 g.)
2 Tbsp. lard or butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. sugar
1/4 pt. or 2/3 c. milk (150 ml.)
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients into bowl, then rub in the fat until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Pour milk in and stir to make soft dough.
Knead on floured board, then refrigerate for 30 minutes. Break dough into lemon-sized pieces, roll into balls and flatten to 1/2 inch or 1 centimeter thickness.
Fry these in hot oil until golden or bake in hot oven, gas mark 7,425\u00b0 or 220\u00b0 Celsius.
While still hot, tear bakes open and butter generously.
