Barbecued Lima Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried lima beans (2 2/3 c.)
    5 c. cold water
    1 tsp. salt
    6 slices bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces
    1 c. onion, chopped
    1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
    1/2 c. bottled barbecue sauce
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1/4 c. light brown sugar
Preparation
    Cover beans with water.
    Refrigerate, covered, overnight.
    Next day, drain; measure drained liquid and replace with fresh water. Turn into Dutch oven.
    Add salt.
    Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 hour or until beans are tender.
    Meanwhile make sauce.
    Saute bacon until crisp.
    Remove bacon from pan and drain.
    In hot bacon drippings, saute onion and green pepper until tender.
    Add barbecue sauce, tomato sauce and brown sugar.
    Add to beans and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Garnish with bacon pieces for last 5 minutes of baking time.
