Date And Nut Bread(No Shortening) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. (8 oz.) pitted dates
    1 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 egg, separated
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. walnuts
Preparation
    Cut dates in 3 pieces and place in mixing bowl.
    Over these, pour water to which soda has been added, stir until dissolved; cook.
    Add egg yolk, flour, sugar, vanilla and nuts.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg white.
    Pour in ungreased bread pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
