Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. sugar, separated
2 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. milk
4 to 5 medium apples
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 Tbsp. butter
Sauce (follows)
Preparation

Sift together sifted flour, salt, baking powder and 1 tablespoon sugar.
Add shortening and milk.
Mix and roll out thin on a floured board.
Peel apples and cut up fine on pastry. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter (cut up fine).
Roll up like a jelly roll and slice 2 inches thick. Place in a greased baking pan, cut side up.
Place sauce around dumplings.
